Federico Romaguera: "I catch images sometimes extracted from Goya's engraving series 'Caprichos' or 'Desastres de la Guerra', other times inspired in silent film scenes, film noir or the American musical which I  hermetically enclose in a ' stage cube' adding different theatrical elements: backstage, backdrops, racks ... arranging them at different distances from each other, also creating false perspectives. The materials I use are cardboard, cut out and painted with coloured acrylics, Chinese ink or black pencil, and sometimes I finish with glitter, lacquer or metallic papers. Using textile collage, fixed on a board or stretched on a frame, the artist applies the Japanese value of the Kintsugi as a reference for her research. The Kintsugi theory recommends the conservation and recovery of damaged objects which formerly had a specific and important function. Using old burlap sacks, linen, jute or cotton fabrics, she has generated large textile surfaces sewn or bonded, partially or completely.       Stained or painted, intervened with letters or highlighting the broken and worn areas, they wish to convey moods and a range of variable sensations.

Portitxol's historical discoveries

El Portitxol is one of  the most important scenic and historical sites in Xàbia. Discoveries made on the island, especially on the seabed of the small bay, led to the first underwater  archeological survey of the area and excavation which began in 2019 continuing into 2021.This study has confirmed that this is a rich anchorage area for boats which has been used since the end of prehistoric times until the present day. Evidence of this can be seen in  almost 100 anchors and numerous amphorae as well as other archaeological remains which are stored in the Museum of Xàbia.Key researchers on this project: Alexandre Pérez Prefasi, Jordi Blázquez and Joaquim Bolufer,  will present the results of these studies to us this evening.

Surviving thirst: drought-resistant plants

Can you imagine surviving 8 months practically without drinking? a feat that is outside the limits of the human body, but that the plants of our ecosystems are facing, forced by the persistent drought of this last year. We propose a route along the Montgó slope that overlooks Jesús Pobre, where we will learn about the adaptations of the Mediterranean flora to the lack of the liquid element. We recommend bringing water, a hat or cap, sunscreen and footwear suitable for the mountains. To highlight two visions that, although they differ in chromaticism, temperatures, finishes and surfaces, manage to coexist through contrast. They are the two faces of the moon. One incandescent and bright, the other hidden in the shadows. This binomial between light and shadow finds several points of contact. Both born from the articulation of the 5 elements: Water, Air, Space, Fire and Earth. The proposals coexist because their differences do nothing but exalt one another. Two ceramists with particular searches that range from the matte whites and typical colors of the local lands of this coast of the Mediterranean, to the black and smoky colors of the depths of distant Latin America.

Com a part de la programació per a la commemoració del 25 de novembre, dia internacional per a l'eliminació de les violències contra les dones, hem organitzat un espectacle a l'aire lliure per a totes les edats, el 24 de novembre a les 11:00 a la Plaça del Portal del Clot. Aquest espectacle versa sobre dues netejadores que, avorrides de la seua rutina diària, entren en un món d'ensomni on la seua jornada laboral és retransmesa com si es tractara d'una competició olímpica. El gest esportiu, la dansa, els portés acrobàtics i l'humor donen suport a aquest món de disbarat, el qual mostra una de les violències masclistes més instaurada en la nostra societat, la falta de reconeixement de les tasques domèstiques i de cures.

My most recent artworks focus on my latest life experiences which have allowed me to approach nature. They are intensely experienced fragments, impressions of color that have been stored in my memory and which I assemble into planes which are arbitrarily overlapped or matched; and their models are based on the country, seeds, the house, the sky, the treetops, the interior part of a leaf, a fruit or a flower. They are colors which I have borrowed, in this moment, from an ever changing and magical nature, which I cannot stop admiring.

Xàbia celebrates its carnival with a party that has two different parts; the one in the afternoon focused on children and families and another at night designed for adults. After the parade, which will begin at 5:30 p.m., there will be a children's show "Fantasyland", followed by an afternoon with pop rock discomobile, bar service and food until the end of the night. Next, the party will continue with the adult Carnival parade, at 11:00 p.m., and later the Montecarlo orchestra will perform in the Plaza de la Constitución.

Santa Llúcia Festivities

Like every December 13th, the day of these beautiful traditional festivities begins at 8:00 a.m. with an awakening and at 11:00 a.m.  will take place the mass in Sant Bartolomé Church and distribution of chocolate and sweets. Departure will be at 10:00 a.m. from the Pl. of the Church of San Bartolomé. The day before, the Mayorales go accompanied by the music of the "dulzaina and tamboril" to deposit a bouquet of flowers in the niche located in the street of the Saint.
