Sunday 2 August: Opening night with Shenel Johns & the Fred Nardin Trio

The event will kick off on Sunday 2 August with a performance by Shenel Johns & the Fred Nardin Trio. The American singer, hailed as one of the most outstanding figures in vocal jazz of our time, evokes legends of the calibre of Sarah Vaughan and Abbey Lincoln, and has shared the stage with artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Dionne Warwick and Sheila Jordan.
For her performance in Xàbia, she will take to the stage alongside pianist Fred Nardin, double bassist Daryl Hall and drummer Leon Parker, and will use the occasion to showcase her latest album, Stars.

Monday 3 August: Temple University Jazz Band

The programme continues on Monday 3 August with the Temple University Jazz Band, an ensemble led by the acclaimed trumpeter Terell Stafford, which will also feature a special guest performance by saxophonist Tim Warfield. With a total of 19 members, the band will treat the local audience to one of only two dates scheduled in Spain as part of their European tour, with a programme centred on the compositions and arrangements of the legendary Quincy Jones.

Tuesday 4 August: Closing night with Professor Cunningham and His Old School

The festival will draw to a close on Tuesday 4 August with a performance by Professor Cunningham and His Old School. The band is led by Australian musician Adrian Cunningham, world-renowned for his mastery of the clarinet, saxophone, flute and vocals. Their performance revives the joyful essence of classic New Orleans jazz, blending flawless playing, a warm atmosphere and a repertoire designed to thrill audiences of all ages.
